This wine from the Graves region in Bordeaux is a blend of:
- 48% Merlot
- 35% Cabernet Sauvignon
- 17% Cabernet Franc

Estate
Château Pape Clément is one of the few Grand Cru Classé wines with a history spanning over seven centuries. The estate is named after Pope Clement V, who was elected in 1305. The current owner continues this legacy and was the first in Bordeaux to introduce manual destemming of the entire harvest. Grapes are transferred solely by gravity into small wooden vats, adapted to the specific characteristics of each plot, and then vinified with the utmost care – from vine to bottle.
Harvest and Vinification
The harvest is mechanical and conducted at night to preserve freshness and limit oxidation. The vinification process includes:
- Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks
- Daily punching down and pumping over
- Warm maceration after fermentation for a smoother tannin structure
- Separation of free-run juice and pressed juice
- Aging for 15 months: 90% in stainless steel and 10% in oak barrels
- Strict monitoring of dissolved oxygen throughout the entire vinification process
